Led Based Light Monitoring System for the Primex Experiment at Jefferson Lab
نویسنده
چکیده
A multichannel Light Monitoring System (LMS) based on super-bright blue LED, has been developed for the high resolution electromagnetic hybrid calorimeter (HYCAL) at Jefferson Lab. The central part of the calorimeter consists of 1200 PbWO4 crystal modules. The prototype LMS has been constructed and tested, and has demonstrated a capability of providing an adequate light pulse per each channel, equivalent to the signal of 5 GeV electrons in the detector. The final Light Monitoring System with 1800 output channels and fiber optics light distribution system is presently under construction. The light source of the LMS represents an assembly of 31 super bright blue LEDs connected in series. The uniformity of the output light is achieved by mixing light from the LED assembly in an integrating sphere. The light intensity is being monitored using PIN photo diode and reference photomultipliers with Am radioactive source. In order to achieve (0.1 0.3)% long term stability, the system including the light source, the photo diode with the preamplifier and the reference PMT, is thermally stabilized.

Lifetime Measurement of the π0 Meson and the QCD Chiral Anomaly
The π0 → γγ decay rate is dominated by the chiral anomaly with 4.1± 1.0 % isospin breaking chiral corrections(proportional to the mass difference of the up and down quarks). A new measurement at Jefferson Lab using the Primakoff effect(PrimEx) is presented with a total error of 3.0%. Great care was taken to reduce systematic errors; this was checked with pair production and Compton scattering m...
متن کاملPerformance of the PRIMEX Electromagnetic Calorimeter
We report the design and performance of the hybrid electromagnetic calorimeter for the PRIMEX experiment at Jefferson Laboratory. The detector was designed, constructed and used for high precision measurement of the lifetime of the neutral pion via the Primakoff effect. Calorimeter installation and commissioning was completed with first physics run in fall of 2004. Especially we present calorim...
متن کاملHigh Precision Measurement of the Proton Charge Radius
We propose to perform a high precision e − p elastic cross sections measurement at very low four-momentum transfer squared, Q, from 10−4 to 10−2 (GeV/c) range using a high resolution calorimeter. The absolute value of the e−p cross sections will be controlled by a well known QED process, the Møller scattering, which will be continuously measured in this experiment within similar kinematics and ...

The nuclear incoherent 71" photoproduction cross section from '^C is evaluated at forward angles in the 4.0 to 6.0 GeV energy range using the multicoUisional intranuclear cascade model MCMC. The model incorporates some improvements in comparison with previous versions associated with the momentum distribution (MD) for light nuclei extracted from the available (e,e'p) data as well as the evaluat...
متن کاملNeutron Transversity at Jefferson Lab
Nucleon transversity and single transverse spin asymmetries have been the recent focus of large efforts by both theorists and experimentalists. On-going and planned experiments from HERMES, COMPASS and RHIC are mostly on the proton or the deuteron. Presented here is a planned measurement of the neutron transversity and single target spin asymmetries at Jefferson Lab in Hall A using a transverse...
